Both Microsoft and Logitech are top brands in Keyboard/Mouse Business, While Microsoft is popular for it's General Usage Mouse, Logitech Holds the ground for Game Cliques. if you want to try something new, get a Razer Copperhead/DiamondBack from CorePad (http://www.corepad.com) along with a ZBoard (http://www.zboard.com) both cost Rs.3,540 and Rs.2,200 Respectivly; Laser Mouses are not for General Use, since they always have high DPi Sensor(Dots per Inch) this coupled with a Laser Senser will make the Mouse Go Nuts in Normal Windows Environment. if you want to go the Laser way, you have the following options:
Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse 800Dpi Sensor Wireless (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/AR/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=9043)
Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 Corded (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=049)
Logitech MX610 Laser Mouse Wireless (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10917)
Logitech G7 Laser Gaming Mouse Wireless (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10716)
Aside from the G7 All of above are yet to be launched, the G7 Sells for Rs.5,500/- Hope this helps :D

Tehn i suggest you go for Logitech G5, it's corded so no hassle of batteries, Plus it sports a Funky Design! it also has a 2000Dpi sensor, traditionally, you also got + and - (minus) buttons to adjust Dpi on the fly for games or applications, although i don't know Indian Price, my wild guess would be 3.5k
