After a chorus of criticism, Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news).'s music division said Wednesday it is distributing a free software patch to reveal hidden files that automatically installed to hard drives when some of its music CDs were played on personal computers.

whats with every damn company wanting to install some shit or another in our computers and a reputed company such a sony doing such thing is just shamful. booo sony boooooooooo!
Piracy Costs Software Manufacturers $50Billion every year, that's in losses, Sony was prone to do it, With Terabytes of illegal Music available on P2P and Torrents, it'd oubtable wether a action like this would actually help sony.

I had my entire hdd changed just 2 monce ago and aint used any sonys so I'm not worried hehe

It just shows that Sony is more interested about their profits than their consumers property and Privacy. This is complete and utter bullshit!

they have since released a patch that remove their spyware from computers.
