so we have both major hardware player now having dual core processors. though dual cost almost cost double as the normal ones are they worth it? is the output double or just the price?

Dual core processors will only benefit apps that are optimised for dual core. RIght now most games are optimised for single core hence the fx-57 beats the x2 4800+ easily. However for multi-tasking freaks the dual core is a boon. You could essentially burn a dvd on one hand and run an antivirus scan too.

However until we have games specifically optimised for dual core it wont be faster than a single core processor in games.

i think dual layper computer processors just increase performance by a few percent say 30% more than single ones....

i think dual layper computer processors just increase performance by a few percent say 30% more than single ones.... Presnetly, Dual Core is at it's Nascent Stage, however... while there are very rare Multi Threaded applications availble, the future of processors is Dual Core, the FX-57 is most powerful single core processor ever made, it will obviously smash X2 in single threaded applications, but if runned a Multi Threaded Application, Apple Quick time 7 for example is Multi threaded, the diffrence is clear! Dual Core is for people who do lots of multi tasking and into Design and CAD, as for Gamers, any FX 55 or 57 will do.
