Of course its something else lol.
Its not RAM for heavens sake.

Do a spyware scan with ad-aware ..get it at www.download.com
I suggest you have multiple spyware utilities...I have around 6-7.
Also get Spybot Search and destroy.

And also, antivirus..AVG is the best free edition there...get it too at download.com

Thats it, youre done. :)

i fully agree with radius_vector
dude...your pc is provably virus affected..and full with adwares......
the best solution you have is ,, reinstall the operating system again,,install a good antivirus...install a strong firewall( zonealarm or mcafee)..and finally install a spyware (yahoo prefarable)..
Hope that will solve your preblem...i GB ram is just electric man...keep rockin...

whats the speed of the ram if 233 then thats might not be so great for a fully loaded pc if you r getting a new card go for 400 mhz or even 500 mhz speed though i wont take 500 mhz as its double the price from 400mhz and just a wee bit faster.

Well no point, you're better off with DDR400. As all the guys said, check for spyware and check task manager and see what process is hogging your cpu, that could also be the problem, in which case it ain't ram related.

Don't do anything like scanning with Spyware or Virus or something. There's only one way,Format it n reinstall everything. When u install and unistall things often don't forget to Defragment every drive.

Man, and I feel happy even with my 256 Mb Ram! Defragment your drive. Do spyware scans regularly (I use three programs for it).
Yeah, through formatting your comp will have some sreious speed, but it is not the best option if you have loads of important data in your hdd (unless you can back up important data on a DVD).

U might be facing this problem due to VIRTUAL MEMORY shortage... I don't say its always because of SPYWARE bugs. It is caused when there is mismatch in few parameters in OS. Try INSTALLING windows again. Practically specking, it can only solve ur PROBLEM >>>>

Use Microsoft antispyware, the best about it is it's real time protection, so it saves your OS from installing Spyware in the first place. unlike Ad-Aware, i used Professional edition, but truthfully speaking, there is freeware alternatives to Ad Aware, Spyboy Search and Destroy, it's UI is unintuitive for sure, but it packs mighty punch. and please do yourslef a favor, adn don't search on google about Spyware, chances are you'd click on "Sponsered links" which offer to remove spyware but are actually spywares/adware/trojans thereself! also, while i know it's agaist forum rules to talk piracy. but most people get hit by Spywares?Malicious Software, when there searching for Warez, or Game/Program Cracks, tell me, did you download an 851kB File From LimeWire or other P2P Osftware that claimed to be some software you were searching for? after you unzipped the .Rar or .Zip File, did you saw an installation which said something like this: Welcome to Setup wizard, this will install SetUp"? also, when you try to install it did you get this warning? " Tis version of application has expired please download latest version from vendor's site"? if ys, then congrats, you have hitted your pc withan W32 Colera worm, it causes System Instabilty and Reboots, either use, AS Program or Reinstall windows, but if you choose latter, then first make sure, you install ina fresh partitian and format it completley. coming back to topic, use Microsoft antispyware, since you'd need to first validate your windows cpy, if you're using Pirated Windows, when you try to install AS from Website, you would first be presented with an screen asking to validate your Copy, just then, go to Tools> Manage Add Ons, and disable Genuine Windows Tool, voila you ahve bypassed the check! now download MS AS:D

I think this is a simple case of memory leak. Some software that you have is generating variables in ur mem but not deleting them once it is filled. So they are clutterin up ur ram. U might even get an out of memory error in situations like these, but since you havent mentioned it I'm assuming it is only one prog and the others are running fine so you don't run out of mem but are neck deep in useless variables.
Uninstall all softwares and reinstall only the trusted ones and the necessary ones.
I would give a gap of about 3 hrs b/w each program installed, just to find the culprit.
Maybe its an overheatin problem?

ROFL, no way, overheating problem! dude, there's a very simple explaination to this, if you try to run Softwares such as Photshop, 3Ds Max, at once 1GB Ram will choke! these software work optimaly on 3.5GB Ram. so... also, Von_rodic, the thing you're telling, may times currupted .AVI Files, when right clicked, get intoRam, however a reboot this is clear so....:D
